another short update from CO

Well, another short update on my absence... I'm getting settled into my new office and home here in beautiful Fort Collins, CO. The weather has been amazing and the people are awesome and friendly! I haven't been out to seen anything yet as I've been swamped with setting things up but hopefully that will come soon! I'm now a self-taught expert in setting up a secure wireless network (after hours of frustration). I'm still amazed at how simple it was coming into the US regarding the immigration people (although I do have a fair bit of experience at it now and likely have a lengthy history which no doubt helps my case!). IT is funny though how the biggest concern to immigration is the importation of vehicles.. its absolutely amazing! My car was actually bought in the US so it was a no-brainer, however, for most people its the biggest head-ache.. very strange. I've got a few more boxes to unpack and about 4000 email to go through so it should keep me going for the week-end. Any of you Colorado-based readers out there in my area, feel free to drop me a line at glennatgisuserdotcom... its always nice to meet some colleagues and to start networking in the local area.

Location Australia joins with IGNSS

This little news update comes from down-under... Location Australia (Position, Navigation and Timing Industry Network) has been convened as a special interest group of the IGNSS and a steering group representing different sectors of the Location Industry has been formed. The steering group consists of Brent Stafford of ITS-Australia (VIC), John Sprivilus of Omnistar (WA), Martin Dawson of Andrew Network Solutions (NSW), Martin Nix of Leica-Geosystems (QLD) and the convener Robert Lorimer (Position One Consulting). Getting Back to normal... slowly!

hi all, just a quick update to let you know that I'm still alive and well! I've spent the past week moving house from stormy Vancouver Island. that was followed up by several days with the in-laws to say goodbye to family then off to head south. For the past 4 days I've been driving through Oregon, Idah, Utah, Wyoming and now into Northern Colorado where my new home away fromm homme is the Holiday Inn... hopefully my furniture will have as great a drive down here as we did... the scenery was amazing as we went through Lewis & Clark country and the Oregon hills, then through Idaho which felt like one huge farm... then Utah which I have to say we were pretty much blown away with and can't wait to see more! Wyoming was kind of like Texas... a long boring drive although the geology is quite interesting to say the least! Anyway, I'm now inn a bit of limbo waiting for my posessions... hopefully they cross through immigration with as much ease as I did (I guess I'm getting to be an old hand at that by now!).. stay tuned for more updates and hopefully I'll be almost back to normal with the blog and GISuser.com by early next week. Any of you Fort Collins readers, I'm looking forward to meeting up with you face to face real soon... later (Glenn)
