ArcGIS Server Code Challenge Winner combines ArcGIS Server 9.2 technology with Google's Google Maps and Microsoft's Virtual Earth

Just heard from Alex over at GCS Research in Montana... Alex tells me that his crew picked up a prize in the 2008 ArcGIS Server Code Challenge. The company was recognized innovation in combining the geospatial analytical power of ArcGIS Server 9.2 technology with Google's Google Maps and Microsoft's Virtual Earth visualization applications. According to the company, Mr. John Waterman, Vice-President of Geospatial Solutions for GCS Research, developed the application demonstrations based upon on-going work and expertise with ArcGIS Server as well as Microsoft's Virtual Earth and Google Maps. Congrats!

No it's not a Smart car, rather a Subaru R1e electric alternative commuter

Off topic but of interest as the price at the pump rises almost daily. As the US gears up for a summer of what many other countries (Canada, UK and the entire EU) have endured for years - $4+ per gallon prices at the pump, there's some relief on the horizon for those who can wait... enter the Subaru R1e (look slike a Smart car doesn't it?)... some specs from Subaru:
The Subaru R1e employs state-of-the-art, fast-charge lithium ion battery technology that eliminates typical lithium ion battery issues of charge memory loss, allowing partial charges and quick charges that do not decrease battery life. The two-seat Subaru R1e is capable of driving at speeds up to 65 mph with a range of up to 50 miles, making it an ideal urban commuter. The Subaru R1e can be "quick-charged" to 80 percent capacity in only 15 minutes using quick-charge technology. The vehicle can be fully charged overnight (eight hours) while connected to a standard household electrical outlet. The R1e uses an AC permanent magnet synchronized motor producing 40 kW. embed Google maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth side by side

Dual Maps from mapchannels.com enables users to embed Google maps and Microsoft Virtual Earth side by side

This new feature comes to us from MapChannels - It is now possible to create an embeddable map that includes an aerial map, a bird's eye view and a street view of the same location. You can change the settings of your Dual Maps without having to re-visit the Map Channels website. The service is free and does not require registration.

A custom setup screen enables users to first set display option such as map style (is terrain, or street view, borders, Virtual earth options, toolbars, and marker titles... quite nice! Create your own dual map here
