Android updates offered to only a select few by Google

This interesting tidbit comes via NetworkWorld... "Android advocate at Google, apologized on an online forum for accidentally sending a note intended for winners of a developers' contest to a wider list of developers. The note implies that Google has been privately offering updates to the SDK (software development kit) only to a subset of developers".. ouch! So what now.. will the develoeprs start flocking to the iPhone development environment?? Indeed they likely will!

the dw2-o blog and where are the Google mobile apps?

I was interested to recently stumble upon a blog by Symbian's David Wood (dw2-o). Intersting to see that in his most reent post providing some excerpts from the most recent MoMo London event (a local hook-up and shmoozefest of local mobile technology enthusiasts) David notes how Google's own Eric Shmidt (Google CEO) has been asking the Google Mobile team why they only make one app release every six months, whereas development of apps for PC web-browser happens much more quickly. I've wondered that myself, particularly since the mobile apps that Google does launch are always darned good!
