From the Biloxi Sun Herald ... Beginning today, Coast residents can look up their property on the Internet to find out what elevations FEMA recommends for construction in areas subject to tidal surge. FEMA has increased flood elevations by 3 to 8 feet along the Coast. Building to those elevations, whether local governments require it or not, will protect property in future storms. The new advisory elevations are based on data collected over the past 20 years, including trend analysis from hurricanes Elena, George, Ivan, Isadore, Lili and Katrina.
