CBS Reports on USGS Moving Shop to Denver

From the AP... The U.S. Geological Survey has confirmed its decision to consolidate its nationwide mapping operations in Denver, despite objections from lawmakers in Missouri, where an existing mapping operation will be closed, Sen. Wayne Allard said Wednesday. The new Geospatial Technical Operations Center will absorb operations currently done in Rolla, Mo., Menlo Park, Calif., and Reston, Va. The move would force 187 Rolla employees out of their jobs within a year. "This will be a major boost for Colorado's satellite imagery industry," said Allard, R-Colo., who learned of the decision from Interior Department Under Secretary Mark Limbaugh.
