iPhone users get your firmware update to 1.1.3

If you found an iPhone under the tree you may want to check out details of the latest firmware update to 1.1.3. Never updated your phones firmware yet? Think of it as updating your PC's OS, however, it's not as simple as simply grabbing a patch from MS like we frequently have to do. If it's anything like performing a firmware update on a Nokia smartphone it's about as fun as getting an ice cold herbal colonic! You'll need to backup all you apps and data and then start from scratch (maybe Apple has streamlined this and made it simple... I sure hope so for your sake), if not, make sure you have alcohol handy when you get brave enough to jump in and do it. See more here

I don't know how it is with iPhones, but with some devices, there's always that possibility of "bricking" the unit, should there be corruption or power loss or any other disruption during the firmware upgrade process... essentially turning the unit into a useless "brick"....

Considering that the touted upgrades are things which are not (or should not be) integral or central to the core OS, it's bewildering that it takes a firmware upgrade, as opposed to a simple download. But again, it's been Apple's apparent intent to lock down the unit and control the channel for applications and enhancements, at least for the moment...

And they complain about how "evil" Micro$oft is...
